A Part D plan is Medicare’s prescription drug benefit which a Medicare beneficiary can purchase to provide coverage for their outpatient (retail pharmacy) drug coverage. Part D plans are provided only through private insurance companies that have contracts with the federal government (CMS). Part D is not purchased directly from Medicare (CMS). Most individuals who purchase a Medicare Supplement plan also purchase a stand-alone Part D prescription drug plan. Our advisors will typically have the top 4-5 Part D plans available for them to use with their clients. To learn a bit more on Part D plans, check out our consumer YouTube Video
